| Obverse description | A crowned armored knight stands facing left in the central field, holding a sword upright in his right hand and a bundle of arrows — symbolizing the Union of Utrecht — in his left, resting upon a shield charged with the three lions passant of Holland/West Friesland. The figure is rendered in the robust, high-relief hammered style characteristic of late sixteenth-century Dutch provincial coinage.
