Reverse description A rampant lion passant-rampant to the left occupies the central field, rendered with vigorous detail within a beaded inner circle. The circumferential Latin legend encircles the device in the outer ring, with the date 1618 incorporated into the legend at the base. The square klippe format and extraordinary piedfort weight of this triple-weight specimen are evident in the pronounced depth of strike and the sharp, angular corners of the flan, consistent with a prestige or presentation issue from the Middelburg mint.
