| Obverse description | Bareheaded armored bust of Herman Diederik (Herman Dirk) of Bronckhorst-Batenburg facing left, depicted in three-quarter view with a staff or baton held in the right hand. The effigy is rendered in a bold, late-Renaissance hammered style typical of Low Countries coinage of the 1570s. The legend runs between two pearled concentric circles enclosing the central field, with the last two digits of the date (77) appearing within the design. The inscription identifies the issuer by name and title. |
