Obverse description Armored half-length effigy of Philip II of Spain facing left, wearing a crown and plate armor with ruff collar, the right hand holding a scepter. The figure is rendered in a bold, late-Renaissance hammered style with pronounced sculptural relief. The date 1578 appears in the lower field, accompanied by a small shield.
