Obverse description Central Burgundian cross with a fire-steel (fusil) at its center, the jewel of the Order of the Golden Fleece suspended below. The arms of the cross are ornamented in the Burgundian tradition, and the date 1584 is divided by the lower limbs of the cross. A crowned canopy surmounts the cross, and the surrounding legend in Latin is separated by ornamental stops.
