正面描述 Central Burgundian cross with a firesteel (flint and steel) device at the intersection, surmounted by a royal crown and with the jewel of the Order of the Golden Fleece suspended below, dividing the date in two halves across the horizontal arm. The Utrecht mint mark (the arms of Utrecht) appears at the top of the cross. The encircling Latin legend is separated from the central device by a plain inner circle, and the entire composition is rendered in the bold, somewhat coarse style characteristic of hammered provincial Low Countries coinage of the mid-sixteenth century.

附加信息

The Bourgondische Kruisrijksdaalder was introduced by Philip II's government in the Low Countries as part of a deliberate monetary unification effort — the 1557 ordinance sought to impose a standardized coinage across the seventeen provinces, replacing the chaotic patchwork of local issues. Utrecht struck its own series reluctantly; the city's chapter lords jealously guarded minting privileges inherited from the medieval prince-bishopric, and the transition period of 1567–1571 overlaps almost exactly with the Duke of Alba's arrival and the imposition of the Council of Troubles.

That political turbulence likely interrupted production at Utrecht more than once during these years.
