| 表面の銘文 | BRASIL (Translation: Brazil) |
| 裏面の説明 | The numeral 1 is rendered in large, bold relief at center against a finely lined diagonal background that fills the upper field, creating a striking contrast. Below the numeral, the denomination CRUZEIRO is inscribed in prominent sans-serif Latin lettering across the mid-field. The date is positioned at the base of the design, flanked on each side by a small mint mark rosette, with the entire composition contained within a plain raised rim. |

The cruzeiro had already been redenominated once before this series entered circulation — Brazil abolished the original cruzeiro in 1967, replacing it at 1,000-to-1 with the "new" cruzeiro, which was itself quietly rebranded back to simply "cruzeiro" in 1970. These stainless steel pieces circulated against a backdrop of catastrophic inflation: by 1984, Brazil's annual inflation rate exceeded 200%, effectively rendering the 1-cruzeiro denomination worthless before the series even concluded. The cruzado reform of 1986 swept away the cruzeiro again at 1,000-to-1.
