Obverse description Three-quarter facing crowned and veiled effigy of Queen Victoria, turned slightly to the left, rendered in high relief in the manner of a formal portrait bust. The Queen wears the Imperial State Crown and a widow's veil, consistent with her later coinage portraits. A beaded inner circle frames the design, with the legend disposed around the periphery of the field. Note: multiple die varieties are known to exist for this pattern issue.
