Reverse description An ornate floriated cross pattée occupies the full field, its arms elaborately decorated and terminating in fleurs-de-lis; a thistle plant is placed in each of the four quarters between the arms of the cross. The peripheral legend, separated by trefoil stops, is contained within a beaded inner circle and a beaded outer border, consistent with the hammered technique of the issue.
