Obverse description Second laureate and draped bust of King James II facing left, rendered in high relief after the manner of John Roettier, with flowing long hair falling over the shoulder and a laurel wreath crowning the head. The king's armoured or draped truncation is visible at the base of the portrait. The Latin circumferential legend IACOBVS·II·DEI·GRATIA reads from lower left to upper right around the periphery, separated by interpuncts. The field is broad and slightly convex, with a fine milled border encircling the entire obverse.
