Beschrijving voorzijde Right-facing effigy of King George V, crowned and wearing military uniform with decorations visible at the truncation, rendered in high relief with fine portrait detail. The Imperial State Crown surmounts the king's head, depicted with considerable sculptural depth. The legend GEORGE V KING EMPEROR arcs around the periphery, divided by the portrait, reading from lower left to lower right. The field is smooth and unadorned, allowing the bold effigy to dominate the flan. The denticled border frames the entire design.

Aanvullende informatie

The Treaty of Waitangi was signed in February 1840, making 1935 the 95th anniversary — an odd milestone to commemorate, and one that was never officially adopted. This piece was struck as a pattern only, almost certainly as a proposal that went nowhere in Wellington. No circulation issue followed, and the Crown series for New Zealand would not properly materialize until 1949.

Pattern coins of this type were typically produced in very small numbers for government or treasury review. KM#Pn4 designation confirms its status as an unadopted trial piece.
