The king's truncated bust faces sinister, with finely modelled facial features characteristic of Wyon's portraiture. The peripheral Latin legend reads GEORGIUS IV DEI GRATIA, disposed around the upper arc of the coin, interrupted by the date 1825 placed centrally at the base of the design. The legend and date are separated from the field by a fine toothed or beaded border running along the full circumference of the coin.
