| Obverse description | Right-facing draped bust of Queen Elizabeth II, engraved by Arnold Machin, wearing a diadem and with hair swept up. The legend ISLE OF MAN curves along the left periphery and ELIZABETH II along the right, both in raised Latin lettering. The date 1979 appears in the lower field beneath the portrait. The deeply mirrored proof fields contrast sharply with the finely frosted effigy, characteristic of Pobjoy Mint's high-relief proof coinage. The mint mark PM is positioned discreetly at the lower right of the portrait. |
