Beschrijving voorzijde The obverse features the third definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Raphael Maklouf, facing right in right-facing profile. The Queen is depicted wearing the George IV State Diadem, pearl drop earrings, and a pearl necklace, with her draped bust truncated at the lower field. The surrounding legend reads 'ELIZABETH II' to the left and 'ISLE OF MAN' to the right, with the date '1995' positioned below to the right, all in raised Latin lettering. A finely toothed border runs along the coin's outer rim.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse commemorates the Chinese eunuch official and inventor Tsai Lun, credited with the development of the first natural fibre paper in AD 105. At the centre of the field, within a raised circular frame, is a portrait bust of Tsai Lun facing slightly left, wearing traditional Han dynasty court attire and headgear. To the left of the portrait, a gnarled tree and rocky landscape are depicted in relief, accompanied by the name 'Tsai Lun' in Latin script and its Chinese character equivalent '蔡倫', above an inscribed stone reading 'FIRST NATURAL FIBRE PAPER AD 105'. To the right of the portrait, a neatly rendered stack of paper sheets is shown in the lower field. The peripheral legend 'INVENTIONS OF THE MODERN WORLD' arcs along the upper rim, while the denomination '1 CROWN' appears at the base.
