Churchill's "finest hour" speech was delivered to the House of Commons on 18 June 1940, the day after France requested armistice terms from Germany. Gibraltar was directly in the crosshairs that summer — Franco's Spain was under intense pressure from Hitler to allow an Axis assault on the Rock, a plan designated Operation Felix that never materialized largely due to Franco's deliberate stalling.
The "fairmined gold" designation refers to certified artisanal small-scale mining sources, a provenance standard the series leans on heavily in its marketing. Tombac as the base metal is a brass alloy, with gold plating applied over it.
