Additional information

Gibraltar's late-1990s commemorative program leaned heavily on British royal nostalgia, and this piece fits squarely in that output — issued the year before the Queen Mother's 100th birthday, drawing on a photograph taken when she was around five years old. The Queen Mother was born Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon in August 1900, making the 1905 image one of the earliest documentary photographs of her life.
