Reverse description The central field depicts a full-length standing figure of Helmuth von Moltke the Elder, Prussian Field Marshal and chief architect of the German victory at the Battle of Sedan in 1870, rendered in high relief against a detailed battle scene. Behind him, a dramatic low-relief panorama shows infantry soldiers in combat amid burning buildings and the smoke of battle. The composition is framed on both sides by laurel branches meeting at the base, where a Prussian Pickelhaube helmet is depicted at the center. The legend THE BATTLE OF SEDAN arcs prominently along the upper periphery, with the date 1870 inscribed at the lower left and the name VON MOLTKE at the lower right of the field. The denomination 1 CROWN appears along the lower border within the laurel wreath.
