Reverse description The central field depicts a dramatic battle scene commemorating the Battle of Arbela (331 BC), with mounted cavalry and infantry engaged in fierce combat rendered in high relief, filling the left portion of the design. To the right stands a full-length figure of Alexander the Great in classical Macedonian military attire, holding a spear and shield. The scene is flanked on both sides by laurel branches. Below the battle scene, the inscription 331 B.C. and ALEXANDER appear on either side of a lion's head device, with the denomination 1 CROWN displayed in the lower field and the Pobjoy Mint mark PM to its right. The arched legend THE BATTLE OF ARBELA frames the design at the top.
