Obverse description Right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II occupies the central field, depicting the monarch wearing the George IV State Diadem and a pearl drop earring, rendered in a mature portrait style with finely detailed hair. The bust is truncated at the shoulder and set against a deeply mirrored proof field. The encircling legend reads ELIZABETH II · D · G · REGINA · GIBRALTAR · 2021 in the upper arc, with · ONE CROWN · continuing along the lower arc, all in raised Latin characters. The portrait follows the Raphael Maklouf or later effigy tradition used for Gibraltar coinage.

Reverse description The reverse displays conjoined busts of H.M. Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Prince Philip, both facing right, with the Queen's portrait positioned slightly in front of the Prince's in overlapping profile. The Queen is shown with her characteristic pearl necklace and styled hair, while Prince Philip appears in suit and tie. The upper arc bears the legend H.M. QUEEN ELIZABETH II · HRH PRINCE PHILIP in raised Latin lettering. At the base of the design, a decorative ribbon banner carries the inscriptions STRENGTH and STAY flanking the large numeral 70, commemorating seventy years of marriage and devotion.

Additional information

Gibraltar's Crown issues of this type are frankly commemorative products aimed at collectors rather than circulation, produced under licensing arrangements that have made the territory one of the more prolific issuers of royal-themed commemoratives since the 1990s. The "Strength & Stay" title references Philip Mountbatten's own phrase for the Queen, drawn from a 1997 Golden Wedding anniversary speech — a detail that gives the series its nominal historical peg.
