| Beschrijving voorzijde | Crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, after the portrait by Raphael David Maklouf, wearing the George IV State Diadem, pearl drop earrings, and a pearl necklace. The truncation is draped. The legend 'ELIZABETH II' arcs along the left field, 'GIBRALTAR' along the upper right, and the date '1997' appears at lower right. The engraver's initials 'RDM' and the Pobjoy Mint mark 'PM' appear near the truncation. The coin is struck to proof quality with a deeply mirrored field and frosted relief. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse features a bimetallic design in which the gold centre depicts a representation of the ancient chryselephantine Statue of Zeus at Olympia, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, shown seated upon a throne in frontal view, holding a sceptre in his left hand and a figure of Nike in his right. The surrounding silver ring bears the inscriptions 'WONDERS OF THE WORLD' arcing along the upper border and 'THE STATUE OF ZEUS - OLYMPIA' along the lower portion, with the denomination '1 CROWN' also indicated in the legend. |
