| Aanvullende informatie |
The Royal Chelsea Hospital was founded by Charles II in 1682, reputedly at the urging of Nell Gwyn, though that attribution is almost certainly apocryphal. What is documented is that Sir Christopher Wren designed the building, completed under his supervision in 1692, and that the institution has housed retired and injured soldiers continuously ever since. The Pobjoy Mint, based in Surrey, issues crown-sized pieces for numerous smaller territories and has long favored colorization as a commercial differentiator in the commemorative market.
