Additional information

Operation Torch, launched in November 1942, was the Anglo-American amphibious landings in French North Africa — the first large-scale U.S. ground offensive of the war in the European theater. Gibraltar was operationally central: Eisenhower commanded the entire invasion from the Rock's tunnels, making it the first time a combined Allied force had been directed from British soil outside the mainland.

This is a modern commemorative struck in gold-plated cupro-nickel, one of several in Gibraltar's extended "Road to Victory" series cycling through major WWII operations.
