Issued to mark the Queen Mother's ceremonial visit to the Isle of Man, this piece belongs to a broader commemorative program the Manx authorities ran aggressively through the 1990s and into the 2000s — pairing bimetallic and clad technologies with royal occasions to generate collector revenue well beyond what circulation demand could justify.
