Issued to commemorate the 1999 departure of Prince Edward and Sophie Rhys-Jones following their June wedding, this is one of dozens of Isle of Man crowns produced under the prolific partnership between the Manx government and Pobjoy Mint. The Isle of Man Treasury has issued commemorative crowns at a pace few jurisdictions match, and royal occasions reliably anchor the annual program.
The "Queen Mother" in the title refers to the obverse effigy authority, not the subject — Elizabeth II as issuing monarch, under Ian Rank-Broadley's fourth portrait introduced in 1998.
