| Obverse description | Right-facing draped bust of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the George IV State Diadem and a pearl necklace with a drop pendant, rendered in fine cameo relief against a mirror-polished field. The effigy depicts the Queen with elaborately coiffured hair and is based on the Raphael Maklouf portrait. The legend ELIZABETH II runs vertically along the left rim, with GIBRALTAR and the date 1999 arching along the right rim. A fine beaded border encircles the design. |
