| Reverse description | Central field depicts the paddle steamer P.S. Mona's Queen II underway at sea, with smoke issuing from her funnels and rigging clearly rendered. Superimposed to the left is an oval cameo portrait of a uniformed ship's captain, shown facing slightly right. The inscription P.S. MONA'S QUEEN II appears in small lettering beneath the central design. The upper legend MANX MARITIME HERITAGE curves around the periphery, while ONE CROWN is inscribed along the lower arc, flanked on each side by a stylised rope knot or figure-of-eight motif. The entire design is enclosed within a decorative rope-and-chain border. |

| Additional information |
The Mona's Queen II was a steam packet vessel operated by the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company, the oldest surviving sailing company in the world operating under continuous management. This crown was issued as part of the Isle of Man's prolific commemorative program under the Pobjoy Mint, which held the contract for Manx coinage during this period and produced an unusually high volume of collector-targeted issues throughout the late 1970s and 1980s.
The Steam Packet Company has held a near-monopoly on sea links to the island since 1830.
