| Additional information |
No. 330 Squadron was established in 1941 using Norwegian personnel who had fled the German occupation, initially operating Sunderland flying boats on Atlantic convoy escort and anti-submarine patrol from bases in Scotland and Iceland. The squadron sank or damaged a significant number of U-boats and remained under Norwegian command throughout the war, technically part of the Royal Norwegian Naval Air Service while operating within RAF structure — an administrative arrangement that caused recurring friction over command authority.
Gibraltar's long-running commemorative crown program has produced dozens of Allied squadron issues in this series. KM#1669 is among the later entries.
