| Obverse description | Right-facing draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II wearing a diamond diadem and pearl earring, after the third definitive portrait by Raphael David Maklouf. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left field, GIBRALTAR along the upper right, and the date 2005 descends along the lower right. The engraver's initials RDM appear in small relief below the portrait truncation. The design is enclosed within a continuous beaded border. |

| Additional information |
This piece is one of several Gibraltar crowns issued in 2005 to mark the bicentenary of the Battle of Trafalgar, where Nelson died aboard HMS Victory on 21 October 1805. Gibraltar's connection to the battle is direct — the damaged British fleet anchored in the bay after the engagement, and Nelson's body was brought ashore there before being transported to England preserved in a cask of brandy.
