| 正面铭文 | ELIZABETH II ISLE OF MAN·1988 |
| 背面描述 | Central depiction of the RMS Mauretania, the celebrated Cunard ocean liner with four funnels emitting smoke, rendered in fine relief against a calm sea. Above the ship, a banner inscribed BLUE RIBAND flanks the date 1907, topped by a triskelion emblem. Below, a scroll cartouche bears the name MAURETANIA, with flanking ribbons reading WINNER FOR 22 YEARS and the date 1929, above the denomination numeral 1 and the word CROWN at base. The outer legend BICENTENARY OF STEAM NAVIGATION arcs around the upper field, with decorative foliate elements at either side of the lower field. |

Issued to mark the maiden voyage of the SS Mauretania — the Cunard liner that held the Blue Riband for the fastest Atlantic crossing from 1907 to 1929 — this Isle of Man crown belongs to a long-running series of commemorative strikes the Pobjoy Mint produced for the island throughout the 1980s. The Mauretania was scrapped at Rosyth in 1935, a decision controversial enough that a public campaign had unsuccessfully lobbied for her preservation.
