Reverse description The reverse commemorates the Elizabethan privateer and explorer Sir Martin Frobisher (c.1535–1594), depicted in a three-quarter facing portrait bust to the left, wearing a ruffled collar characteristic of the late 16th century. Behind and to the right, a fully rigged Elizabethan galleon under sail dominates the central field, superimposed over a stylised cartographic outline of the Arctic coastline including the labelled Frobisher Bay, referencing his celebrated 1576 voyage in search of the Northwest Passage. The arc of the legend MARTIN FROBISHER 1535 - 1594 runs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 1 CROWN appears at the base in prominent raised letters.
