| Beschrijving keerzijde | A modern long jumper is depicted mid-leap in dynamic profile at centre, with a stylized ancient Greek athlete rendered in outline behind, evoking the classical origins of the Games. The design is enclosed within a circular arrangement referencing both antiquity and modernity. The inscription XXVI OLYMPIC GAMES ATLANTA arcs along the upper periphery, with the centenary dates 1896 1996 and the denomination 1 CROWN completing the legend around the lower field. |

Gibraltar's Olympic commemorative program in the 1990s was prolific to the point of excess — the territory issued dozens of crown-sized pieces tied to the 1996 Atlanta Games, targeting collector markets rather than circulation. KM#299 is one of that run.
Gibraltar has no Olympic team in the conventional sense; it remains unrecognized by the IOC due to longstanding objections from Spain, which disputes the territory's political status. The irony of issuing Olympic sports coinage under those circumstances went largely unremarked at the time.
