Gibraltar's crown issues of the early 1990s were produced under a licensing arrangement with the Pobjoy Mint, which struck the majority of the territory's commemorative coinage during this period. This piece marks the 170th anniversary of George IV's visit to Gibraltar in 1814 — the only reigning British monarch to set foot on the Rock, a distinction the territory has not let go unmemosiged across multiple commemorative series.
