| Obverse description | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, diademed and wearing a pearl earring, rendered in high relief against a polished gold-plated field. The portrait, based on the Ian Rank-Broadley design, displays finely detailed hair curls beneath a tiara. The circular legend along the upper periphery reads HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II, interrupted by a central dot separating the issuer abbreviation TDC to the lower right. The date 2012 appears in the lower exergual area beneath the portrait. |

| Additional information |
Tristan da Cunha, a British Overseas Territory in the South Atlantic with a permanent population of around 250, issues coins primarily for the collector market — nothing struck here circulates in any meaningful sense. This piece commemorates Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee, marking sixty years on the throne, a milestone reached by only one previous British monarch: Queen Victoria in 1897.
The gilding is electrolytic, applied after striking.
