Tristan da Cunha crowns are issued under a licensing arrangement and produced for the collector market — none circulate on the island, where the effective currency is the pound sterling. Jellicoe commanded the Grand Fleet at Jutland in May 1916, the largest naval battle of the First World War, and remains a disputed figure: Churchill famously described him as the only man on either side who could have lost the war in an afternoon.
