John Casement was a Manx mariner who served under Captain William Bligh aboard HMS Bounty during the 1789 mutiny — one of several Isle of Man-connected figures the island has commemorated across its prolific crown series. Whether Casement actively participated in the mutiny or remained loyal is not clearly established in the historical record, which makes the coin's commemorative framing an interesting editorial choice by the Manx treasury.
