Additional information

Gibraltar's commemorative program in the early 2000s was prolific to the point of saturation, issuing crowns for virtually every centenary that could be commercially justified. The 2003 centenary of the Wright Brothers' flight at Kitty Hawk was one of the more globally recognized pegs for such issues, shared by dozens of mints and issuing authorities that year.

KM#1040 is one of several Gibraltar crowns released simultaneously under the powered flight theme, each pairing a different aircraft with the series.
