Additional information

Issued to mark the death of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who died on 9 April 2021 at the age of 99. The title "Her Strength and Stay" derives from a phrase used by Elizabeth II in a 1997 speech marking their golden wedding anniversary — her own words, not a courtier's formulation. Gibraltar has issued commemorative crowns prolifically since the 1970s, and gold-plated copper-nickel has been its workhorse composition for decades, keeping price points accessible while maintaining the visual weight of a bullion piece.
