The Bounty bicentennial series from the Isle of Man Treasury was issued across multiple metal variants in 1982, marking 200 years since the ship departed England. The platinum version at 52 grams is among the heaviest and most metal-intensive crown-sized coins the Isle of Man ever produced — at spot prices alone, the platinum content in each piece represented a substantial outlay even at issue.
The mutiny itself occurred in April 1789 in Tongan waters. Fletcher Christian's connection to the Isle of Man is the actual reason this series exists at all — his family had deep roots on the island.
