Issued as part of Gibraltar's long-running commemorative crown program, this piece marks the centenary of Queen Victoria's death and pairs her two great rival Prime Ministers — Gladstone and Disraeli — who disagreed on virtually everything from Irish Home Rule to imperial expansion. Their political antagonism was personal as well as ideological; Victoria herself openly preferred Disraeli, finding Gladstone insufferably preachy.
