Aanvullende informatie

Gibraltar's Crown coinage was authorized following the territory's 1967 referendum, in which 12,138 residents voted to retain British sovereignty against 44 who favored transfer to Spain — a result Franco's government refused to recognize. Madrid responded by sealing the land border in 1969, a closure that would hold for thirteen years. The coins were struck at the Royal Mint across the full issue period, timed in part to assert numismatic as well as political presence during the dispute.
