Reverse description The reverse features a black-and-white photographic portrait of Elvis Presley in a relaxed, contemplative pose with his chin resting on his hand, rendered in selective coloring against a dark field. To the lower left, gold-plated musical notes and a stylized record disc provide decorative background elements. A large gold-plated vintage microphone, held by a hand, dominates the right side of the composition. In the lower field, the facsimile signature of Elvis Presley is inscribed in cursive script.

Additional information

Gibraltar has issued commemorative crowns under royal licence for decades, exploiting its status as a British Overseas Territory to produce themed collector pieces largely aimed at the gift market rather than numismatic circulation. This Elvis issue is one of several music-themed crowns in the 2021 programme, struck in gold-plated copper-nickel — a composition that flatters neither collector nor coin.

The song itself was recorded in 1961, adapted from a Neapolitan melody published in 1898.
