Obverse description Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, wearing a tiara, rendered in the fourth definitive portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley. The truncation of the bust bears the engraver's initials IRB. The peripheral legend reads ELIZABETH II GIBRALTAR, with the date 2003 positioned in the lower right field, all within a beaded border.

Reverse description A central medallic roundel depicts Queen Elizabeth I seated facing, shown in full coronation regalia, wearing an arched Imperial crown and ermine-trimmed robes, holding the orb and sceptre. Flanking the enthroned figure are two classical pillars surmounted by crowns. The inscription CORONATION 1559 appears in the lower portion of the inner roundel. The outer peripheral legend, rendered in a stylised Tudor blackletter-influenced script, reads QUADRICENTENNIAL OF THE LIFE OF ELIZABETH 1533–1603, with the denomination 1 CROWN at the base, and the Pobjoy Mint mark PM visible in the lower field.
