Obverse description Right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, wearing the George IV State Diadem and a pearl necklace, after the portrait by Jody Clark. The legend QUEEN ELIZABETH II · ISLE OF MAN arcs around the upper periphery, while ONE CROWN runs along the lower rim. The date 2017 appears to the right of the portrait, and the engraver's initials JC are visible at the lower left of the bust truncation. The portrait is rendered in fine relief against a mirror-polished field.

Additional information

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award programme, which Philip founded in 1956, celebrated its diamond anniversary in 2016–17, prompting a wave of commemorative issues across Commonwealth territories. The Isle of Man has long operated one of the more commercially aggressive crown programs, routinely releasing selective-plating variants alongside base strikes to widen collector appeal — this gold-ink enhanced piece is squarely that kind of product.
