| 表面の説明 | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, wearing the George IV State Diadem, with hair styled in soft curls and a draped shoulder, as modelled by Arnold Machin. The legend ISLE OF MAN arcs along the left periphery and ELIZABETH II along the right, with the date 1980 positioned centrally at the base. The small Pobjoy Mint privy mark (PM) appears just below the truncation of the bust. A fine toothed border encircles the entire design. |

The 1980 Derby crown was struck by Pobjoy Mint for the Isle of Man to mark the 200th running of the Epsom Derby — a race first held in 1780 and named after the 12th Earl of Derby, who co-founded it with Sir Charles Bunbury. The silver version was issued alongside a cupro-nickel counterpart, a two-tier release strategy that Pobjoy had made its commercial signature throughout the late 1970s collector market.
Pobjoy secured the Isle of Man minting contract in 1973, effectively displacing the Royal Mint from a relationship it had held for centuries.
