Above the horses, an eagle perches on a nest with young, surmounting a small heraldic shield at the uppermost point of the inner border. The entire central composition is enclosed by a rope-twist inner border and a continuous chain-link outer border. The commemorative legend BICENTENARY OF THE DERBY arcs across the upper field and ONE CROWN appears in the lower field between the two borders. |
