Tristan da Cunha is a British Overseas Territory so remote — over 2,400 kilometers from the nearest inhabited land — that its coins are issued purely for the collector market. No meaningful circulation economy exists on an island with fewer than 300 residents. The Crown series issued under its authority is, in practice, a licensing arrangement through the Pobjoy Mint.
Gold-plated copper-nickel Crowns of this type were produced in large numbers for the commemorative trade and have no numismatic scarcity to speak of.
