The Bee Gees connection to the Isle of Man is direct: the Gibb brothers — Barry, Robin, and Maurice — were born in Douglas and spent their early childhood there before emigrating to Manchester and eventually Brisbane in 1958. The island has claimed them enthusiastically ever since. This 2009 crown was issued the year after Maurice had been dead six years, making it as much an act of belated memorialization as celebration.
