Issued ahead of the 2000 Sydney Olympics, this is one of dozens of commemorative crowns the Isle of Man Treasury produced throughout the 1990s under the Pobjoy Mint contract — a commercial arrangement that made the island one of the most prolific issuers of themed collector coinage in the world, with sports, royalty, and pop culture all fair game.
