This crown is one of several pieces issued by the Isle of Man Treasury to mark the bicentenary of the Battle of Trafalgar, fought on 21 October 1805. Nelson was struck by a musket ball fired from the French ship Redoutable at approximately 1:15 p.m. and died some three hours later in the cockpit of HMS Victory, having learned that the Franco-Spanish fleet had been decisively beaten. He never saw the final count: 22 enemy ships captured or destroyed, none British.
