背面描述 The reverse depicts two North American B-25 Mitchell bombers in low-level flight over open ocean, rendered in detailed relief, with a third aircraft visible in the middle distance and an aircraft carrier — representing USS Hornet — silhouetted on the horizon in the background. The legend DOOLITTLE TOKYO RAIDERS curves along the upper periphery, while the date 4.18.1942 and the denomination ONE CROWN are inscribed in the lower field. A circular 75th anniversary commemorative emblem, featuring a five-pointed star and laurel wreath, appears to the right of centre. A beaded border surrounds the design.

附加信息

The Doolittle Raid of April 18, 1942 was America's first air offensive against the Japanese home islands — a mission so logistically improbable that sixteen B-25 Mitchell bombers were launched from a carrier deck despite having no realistic fuel margin to land anywhere safely. Most crews ditched or bailed out over China. The raid caused negligible physical damage but forced Japan to redirect air defense resources and directly precipitated the decision to advance on Midway, a strategic miscalculation that cost the Imperial Navy four fleet carriers two months later.

Tristan da Cunha's connection to the event is purely ceremonial — a remote British territory issuing commemoratives for the collector market.
